Lincolnshire Schools County Cup Final Day

On the 10th May 2023, the Lincolnshire Schools County Cup Finals took place at Sleaford Town FC. The Day consisted of 8 Finals, which saw a range of boys & girls battle it out to become county Champions!


The Under 14s Girls, Under 12s Boys, Under 14 Boys & Under 16s boys Finals took place first with 4 extremely exciting games occurring.


The Under 14s girls final took place between Sir William Robertson Academy (Black & White) and The Priory Ruskin Academy (Purple). The Game was tight and at full-time ended 1-1. A penalty shootout followed with 2 saves by the the Priory Ruskin Goalkeeper- seeing Priory Ruskin come out with a 5-4 victory on penalties.



The Under 12s Boys final Took Place Between William Farr School (yellow) and Queen Elizabeth High School, Gainsborough (Red/Navy). The Game started off at a high intensity with William Farr being awarded and scoring a first minute penalty. An end-to-end game saw QEHS fight back to win 3-1.

The Under 14s Final saw Spalding Grammar (Navy) Take on Priory LSST (Purple/Blue), Spalding Grammar came out on top as 2-0 winners, with both teams playing some excellent football in a great battle.

The Under 16s Boys Final, saw Boston Grammar School (Yellow/Black) take on Spalding Grammar School (Blue) in arguably the game of the day. Spalding Grammar took the lead with a curler from just inside the box before Boston Grammar fought back to lead 3-1. With 7 Minutes to go and 3-1 down Spalding pulled off the unthinkable and netted 3 times in the final minutes to come out victorious, 4-3.

The Second session of finals saw the Under 12 & 16s Girls Finals alongside the Under 13s & 15s boys finals.


The Under 12s girls saw Sir William Robertson (Blue), take on Queen Elizabeth High School, Gainsborough (Red/Navy). The Game saw both sets of players battle hard, in a tight and skilful game. Sir William Robertson came out victorious in a 2-1 win.


The Under 13 boys were next and saw the Kings School (Blue/Maroon) Face-off with Bourne Grammar (Red/Black), a tight game which was filled with great football, and a couple of heavy down pours. The Kings school found themselves 4-2 up before Bourne found a 3 goal not to long from time, Bourne Grammar pushed Kings till the very end but were unable to find the equalising goal. Final Score saw kings win the game 4-3.

The Under 15s Boys Final saw Carre's Grammar (Blue/Black) School face off against King Edward VI Grammar School (Red/Navy). Carre's came out victorious with a 4-1 win, the game was close affair with Carre's only able to wrap up the game late on.


The final game of the day saw the Under 16s girls final between The Deepings School(Blue) and Kesteven & Grantham Girls School (Pink). A battle between two strong sides saw some great football and a number of chances for both teams. The Deepings School wrapped up the final in style with a 5-2 victory, watched on my team mascot Quackers the rubber duck.

Congratulations to all our finalists to making it through to this great day! Alongside a huge congratulations to our winner! All teams showed excellent sportsmanship and created a great atmosphere, representing wonderfully!
