Lincolnshire Schools U16 3-1 Staffordshire Schools U16
The teams braved a very cold Sleaford Town ground for the evening match, we had the rae occasion of having an almost full squad available for the fixture, so we took an action packed bench of subs for the last home game of the season.
We start bright, we had most of the possession and played some lovely football, this is absolute credit to the squad as we changed the formation, personal and gave the team new challenges coming into this match.
Goals came thick and fast from Ebony and Alisha resulting us going into half time 3 – 0 up. With this we made 5 changes at the break.
The work rate, effort and determination never stopped from both sides, Staffordshire came close at times but lucky they where well defended or saved.
We continued to play some good football, and continued to make the changes to try new players together, formations, and build on other working pairs in the units, the girls found this tough and it was a tense last few minutes of the game, where Staffordshire were lucky and deserved to find the back of the net.
We have seen the really true spirit of these players this last few games and I can honestly say the squad on a whole has gelled well to make a solid team and will challenge any team on a good day.
Special thanks you Steven Bowers, Turners of Horncastle and WME for there continued support in sponsoring the match and match ball.
